Are You Promoting Disease…..?

Last week, I started a poll in our private Facebook community asking the question:

What would you like to learn most about the whole food, plant based lifestyle?

  1. a) How do I get enough protein, calcium, iron, and calories?
  2. b) How do I make healthy, satisfying, delicious vegan meals?
  3. c) How do I heal my body naturally without western medicine?
  4. d) Other….please hit reply and tell me what you would like to learn most.

The majority of the LVV Facebook community answered: (c) How to heal naturally without western medicine.

This is fantastic!! Not long ago, people were worried about where to get enough protein and other nutrients. We’ve evolved into the next step!

Now, I’m going to tell you, how to get started on a healing lifestyle!

Step 1: Ask yourself: Am I 100% committed? Am I willing to do whatever it takes to heal? I ask my clients this question all the time and you must be 100% committed to even hold a call with me. Simply put, If you are not 100% committed to healing, you’ll never be 100% healed. You are what you think and what you commit to.

Step 2: This goes with #1, and it is CRITICAL. Do you BELIEVE that you are going to HEAL. Most people miss this step. Even if I teach you how to heal and what to eat, and you do not believe that you are healing, then you limit your success. Our bodies respond to our thoughts and they are powerful! Envision yourself as healed and imagine what that feels like.

Step 3: Release all the processed foods from your kitchen. LET IT GO. Obviously, it is not serving you, it is not healing you, and it adds to illness, disease and decay in your body. Who wants that?! Treat yourself like a Ferrari….would you ever put diesel in that car?

Step 4: Joyfully FILL your kitchen with whole, plant based foods. Choose different colors and textures that are pleasing to your eye and that you are curious about trying. When you go to grab a snack or a meal, you are literally faced with healthy options.

Here are some of my favorite foods this summer:

Fruits: cherries, strawberries, lemons, peaches, nectarines, limes, purple grapes, green apples, avocados….

Vegetables: broccoli leaves, collard greens, kale, lotus root, cauliflower, onions, broccoli, carrots, celery…

Legumes: kidney beans, dark green lentils, pinto beans, black beans, adzuki beans, lima beans….

Grains: buckwheat, quinoa, jasmine brown rice, millet, amaranth, teff, steel cut oats, anything sprouted!….

Seeds: sunflower seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds, sesame seeds (black, golden and white)….

Nuts: almonds, walnuts, pecans….

Dried Fruits: cherries, dates (medjool or honey), figs, raisins (dark and golden),

Step 5: SUPPORT is key to your success. When we have a teacher, mentor, educator to meet us (in whatever step we are in) and help us along the way, we are 10 times more likely to succeed. The reason why I have been so successful with this lifestyle is because I’ve worked with experts that I admired (aka…coaches, educators that I desired to embody their level of health and following their methods).

Step 6: Take continuous action to reap the benefits of this lifestyle. Start with the basics to build your foundation. This will allow you to advance into the next level, then the next, and so on, until you’re truly living a healing lifestyle that promotes and turns into optimal health.

Please note, that the above is to support you to get you started. Serious mastery of this lifestyle takes commitment and continuous action that enables you to build upon this initial foundation.

A Sweet Treat…For You!

Growing up in the beautiful yet bountiful deserts and alpine countries of Arizona, my family enjoyed fresh, sweet, succulent fruit daily.

Particularly, I remember fun summer time, when my sisters and my cousins would swim all day long in my aunt’s backyard pool. It had a diving board , wide, yet long, with a deep and shallow end. We let our imaginations run wild as well played, and played, and played some more!

We were well fed and my aunt would come out mid afternoon and tell us to get out of the pool and eat! She’d present us with a huge fruit platter filled with red, pink, and yellow slices of watermelon, orange cantaloup, lime green honeydew, purple and white grapes, deliciously red apple slices, golden pineapple rings and more.

Fruit. Delicious. Simple. Nature’s Candy.

Scientific research as shown fruit to be one of the best foods on the planet. It is abundant and bountiful. Growing everywhere around the globe in special climates for each unique species.

“Daily intake of fruit may decrease the risk of heart disease by as much as 40 percent, according to data presented in 2014 at the European Society of Cardiology Congress. Researchers followed 451,681 participants for seven years and found that in addition to reducing the risk of heart disease, daily fruit consumption reduced the risk of dying from heart disease and stroke by 27 percent and 40 percent, respectively, compared with people who ate less than a serving of fruit each day. Daily fruit intake also cuts the risk of overall death by 32 percent during follow-up. This study emphasizes the effectiveness of fruit as disease treatment and prevention.” Source: Du H, Li L, Bennett D, et al. Abundance has always been in my life, no matter what. We get to choose to see our lives as abundant, make it fun, enjoy our creativity and live vibrantly!

This is one way that I enjoy my nature’s candy:

Diced Pineapple & Pomegranate Seeds

This is such an easy and delicious way to enjoy your fruit. The bright colors are appealing to the eye (we eat with our eyes first) and the flavors are tangy, sweet, and slightly bitter hitting all the dopamine notes on our tongue.
